United Kingdom has one of the best NHS (national health service) in the world. Once you are registered with a local GP, you are able to make appointment booking to see a doctor easily, technically. Fortunately I do not visit the GP that often, but when I need to, it is always a challenge to get one appointment.
Me: Hello, I would like to make an appointment to see the doctor
Reception: Certainly, the next appointment is in 2 weeks time, do you want to proceed with the booking?
Me: Did you say 2 WEEKS?
Reception: Yes, do you want to proceed?
Me: But I’m very ill and I can’t wait that long.
Reception: In that case, please visit the nearest walk in centre or visit A&E
This is usually what happen when you try to make an appointment and ended up queuing up for hours in A&E. Well, can’t complain when is ‘free’ right?
This is when private medical insurance comes in handy.
