West Wittering Beach in West Sussex is only 2 hours drive away from London, and it’s definitely worth the journey! Ample parking spaces available which is only a minute or two walking to the beach. Strongly recommend to change to your summer flip flop (slipper) before walking towards the beach as the sand is very fine. (Oh, forget about pushing your pram across the beach, it will be much easier to carry your beach gear). The only downside of West Wittering beach is the car park cost £8.50 for a day.
As mentioned earlier, the sand is very fine and is very comfortable to walk bear foot. It was about 23 degrees when I visited the beach which I think was the perfect weather as is not too hot to enjoy building sand castle. Wind are strong so is best to wear extra to keep you warm and definitely a great place for flying kite.
You can see lifeguards patrolling the beach and one of them even came to us offering wrist strap for our little ones with our contact details written down, thumbs up for them! The sea water is surprisingly clean and clear, I’ve been to many beaches across UK and this is definitely one of the best. You’re allow to swim within the flags set out by the lifeguards.
There is a cafe at the entrance of the beach which serve fish & chips and ice creams. But why go for the cafe when you are allowed to barbecue / bbq at the beach! It was definitely a great day out at West Wittering beach and my little ones enjoyed every minute at the beach. (Already planning to visit again before the summer ends!).
